I act like a fool

To avoid being a tool

But here it is, I’m using me again

Playing along, pretending I can be my own friend

I’m not the type of person to ever let things pass

They get under my skin until I just can’t see past

The way things went wrong, the way they were

The way they were always meant to be

And now here it is, the truth:

I’m struggling against me

He’s got to be the prettiest boy that I’ve ever seen

The only one to ever touch me and make me feel clean

But I am lost in all the things that he can’t even see

There’s too much in me

And I fell and I fell hard

And a fool I am, to play this part

But there it goes, I’m hurting me again

Holding back so I won’t make it end

Give in to me, give me what I want

There’s something in you that I have always sought

I promise that I won’t ever let you down

Even if I’m not always around

Because I’m not that great, I’m undependable

That’s why my dance card was never full

But for you I’ll make an exception to my rule-less rules
